The great Camlica Mosque is located in the Asian part of Istanbul and in Uskudar district. This mosque was inaugurated on May 3, 2019 by Erdogan (the Turkish president) and is now considered a new symbol for Istanbul. This mosque is 30,000 m2 wide and it can hold 63 thousand people. The mosque has 6 minarets representing the six beliefs of Islam (Oneness of God, Angels of God, Books of God, Prophets or Messengers of God, the Day of Judgment, the Divine Decree). The length of the four mosque minarets span 107.1 meters, a measurement that refers to the Battle of Manzikert (1071) fought by the Seljuk and Byzantine Empires. Its 72-meter high main dome represents 72 nations living in the city. This mosque is built in the Ottoman-Seljuk style of architecture. Aside from the mosque, the building also includes a museum which is 11 thousands m2 wide, an art gallery which is 3500 m2 wide, library, conference hall, and a 17 thousands meters carpet. This great mosque is located on the Camlica Hill which is one of the most beautiful hills in Istanbul.

How to get to the Camlica Mosque from Taxim Square?

Get to GÜMÜŞSUYU PERON bus station with a 5-minute walk from Taxim Square and get on the 129T bus route and after 7 stops, get off the bus on KISIKLI bus stop and get on the 14R bus route there. After 12 stops, get off the bus on TEPE station in Uskudur. You can then get to the mosque by a 2-minute walk.
